Verb to be. El verbo to be sirve para expresar “ser” o “estar”.

We are going to learn the different ways of conjugation so you can create questions, give positive and negative answers. Vamos a aprender las diferentes maneras de conjugación para que puedas crear preguntas, dar respuestas positivas y negativas.

Create questions. Crear preguntas.

When we create a question we use the verb to be before the personal pronoun, then we add the complement. Cuando creamos una pregunta usamos el verbo “ser” o “estar” antes del sujeto, luego agregamos el complemento.

Example:

Am I a good student? Are you a dentist? Is she a nurse? Is he the engineer? Is it mine? Are we the best team?

Create positive sentences. Crear oraciones positivas.

When we create positive answers we use the affirmation “Yes” at the beginning then the personal pronoun followed by the verb to be and the complement at the end. Cuando creamos respuestas positivas, usamos la afirmación "Sí" al principio, luego el pronombre personal (sujeto) seguido del verbo to be y el complemento al final.

Example:

yes, I am happy. Yes, You are tall. Yes, she is my sister. Yes, he is my father. yes, it is my favorite color. Yes, we are smart.

Create negative sentences. Crear oraciones negativas.

1. If you need to create a question and its related with an action you must use an auxiliary verb (do/does) its function is to help you to conjugate the verb. Si necesita crear una pregunta y está relacionada con una acción, debe usar un verbo auxiliar (do / does), su función es ayudarlo a conjugar el verbo.

2. If the answer is positive you could use: yes + personal pronoun + do/does or Yes + personal pronoun + main verb Si la respuesta es positiva puedes usar: Yes + pronombre personal + do/does o Yes + pronombre personal + verbo principal

3. To make an affirmation use the verb in its simple form without any auxiliary verb. Para hacer una afirmación, use el verbo en su forma simple sin ningún verbo auxiliar.

4. If the answer is negative you could use: No + personal pronoun + auxiliary verb in negative form No + personal pronoun + auxiliary verb in negative form + main verb Si la respuesta es negativa puedes usar: No + pronombre personal + verbo auxiliar en forma negativa No + pronombre personal + verbo auxiliar en forma negativa + verbo principal
