Materials: • Yarn [medium/worsted weight]: White, Pink, Yellow, Brown, Red and Skin • Embroidery Thread/Floss: Brown • Crochet Hooks size E/4 (3.50 MM), D/3 (3.25 MM) • Felt: White, Pink • Poly Fiberfill Stuffing • Needles: Yarn/Craft Needle, and Embroidery Needle • 6 mm Plastic Safety Eyes • Ribbons: Red (1/8” and 1/2”) and White (1/8”) • Glue Gun • Toothpick Terminology: sl st: slip stitch dc: double crochet

Changing Yarn Color: 1. Leave the last stitch of the old color unfinished (i.e., two loops on the hook). 2. Pull though the new color to complete the stitch.

Directions: Note: The head, body, and skirt will be made in one continuous piece. Use the E/4 (3.50 MM) hook for everything unless otherwise stated.

Head: start with a magic circle/ring in Skin color yarn. Row 1: 7 sc into the ring. (7) Row 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (14) Row 3: *sc 1, 2 sc in next sc* repeat 7 times. (21) Row 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc* repeat 7 times. (28) Row 5: sc in each sc around. (28) Row 6: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc* repeat 7 times. (35) Rows 7 - 11: sc in each sc around. Body: Row 17: sc in each sc around. (7) Row 18: 2 sc in each sc around. (14) Row 19: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc, sc 3, 2 sc in next sc* twice. (18) Rows 20 - 21: sc in each sc around, change to Pink yarn in last st of Row 21. (18) Row 22: in back loops only, sc in each sc around. (18) Row 23: sc in each sc around. (18) Row 24: *sc 7, dec* twice. (16) Row 25: sc in each sc around. (16) Row 26: *sc 6, dec* twice. (14) Stuff slightly.

Skirt: Row 27: 2 hdc in each sc around. (28) Row 28: 2 hdc in each hdc around. (56) Row 29: *hdc 6, 2 hdc in next st* repeat 8 times. (64) Slst twice and fasten off. Turn the skirt over, so that you are seeing under the skirt. Row 1: Sc around in White under the line or ridge on the back of Row 28. [Hdc have a line or ridge on the back of the stitch]. Row 2: *3 hdc in next st, slst in next st* around. Fasten off and weave in ends. With Yellow yarn, embroider a yellow outline around/near the edge of the skirt.

Shoes and Legs (make 2): Row 1: With Red yarn, ch 3. sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in last ch, rotate the piece to crochet on opposite side, 2 sc. (6) Row 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12) Row 3: in back loops only, sc around. (12) Row 4: sc 4, dec, dec, sc 4, change to White yarn in last st. (10) Row 5: sc 3, dec, dec, sc 3. (8) Row 6: sc 3, dec, sc 3. (7) Rows 7 – 11: sc in each sc around, change to Skin yarn in last st of Row 11. (7) Row 12: in back loops only, sc around. (7) Rows 13 – 15: sc around. (7) Fasten off, but leave yarn attached on second leg. Row 16: With the yarn attached on the second leg, sc 7 around the first leg to join the two legs together. Then sc 7 around the second leg. (14) Row 17: Sc 14 around, fasten off but leave a tail for sewing. Stuff each leg. • Sc in White around each leg/sock using the front loops from Row 12. • Finally, sew the legs to the skirt using the back loops on the skirt.

Ears (make 2): use Skin color yarn and D/3 (3.25 MM) hook. Row 1: sc 4 into a magic ring. Pull tight to close to form a half circle. Fasten off, but leave a tail for sewing. Set aside for later.

Arms (make 2): start with a magic ring/circle in White yarn. Row 1: Sc 6 into the magic ring. (6) Row 2: sc in each sc around. (6) Thumb: ch 3, slst 2. Rows 3 – 4: sc 6 around, change to Skin yarn in last st of Row 4. (6) Row 5: in back loops only, sc around. (6) Rows 6 – 8: sc in each sc around. Change color to White in last st of Row 8. (6) Row 9: sc around. (6) Row 10: in back loops, *sc 1, 2 sc in next st* 3 times. (9) Row 11: sc around. (9) Row 12: *sc 1, dec* 3 times. (6) Fasten off, but leave a tail for sewing. Stuff the arms. Sc in White around each arm (one for gloves and one for sleeves) using the front loops from Row 5 and 10. Set aside for later.

Wings: Use the provided template and cut out 2 pieces from white felt. Set aside.

Hair: 1. With a long strand Brown yarn and a yarn needle, pull the needle through one of the top stitches on the head. Pull the Brown yarn through the stitch, but leave a tail that is the desired hair length. Pull the needle and yarn through the same stitch again, then cut the brown yarn to match the previous hair length. Repeat around the top of head. Doing another layer underneath the first layer to cover all bald spots.

2. Find a book that is about 4.5 inches wide, or use cardboard to make a 4.5 inch wide piece. Wrap Brown yarn loosely around it about 20 times. 3. Cut a long length of embroidery thread/floss in the same color as the Brown yarn. Pass one end of the thread underneath the middle of the first strand of yarn. Tie a double knot. 4. Pass one end of the thread underneath the next strand of yarn, tie a single knot with the two ends of the thread, and pull it tight. Make a single knot around each strand of yarn until you reach the end. Double knot at the end.

5. Flip the book/cardboard over and cut the yarn down the center.

6. Attach the tied hair piece to the center top of the head.

Bangs: Attach the ears to the side of her head. Embroider hair bangs to the front of her face. Take around 5 strands of hair on the top-front of her head and “twist” it once to give her top-front hair some height. Repeat for the other side. Then cut, trim, and style her hair as desired.

Hat: start with a magic ring/circle in Pink yarn. Note: The ch 2 does not count as a hdc. Row 1: 8 hdc in ring, slst in 1st hdc to join. (8) Row 2: ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around. sl st to join. (16) Row 3: ch 2, *hdc 1, 2 hdc in next st*, 8 times, sl st. (24) Row 4: ch 2, *hdc 2, 2 hdc in next st*, 8 times, sl st. (32) Row 5: ch 2, *hdc 3, 2 hdc in next st*, 8 times, sl st. (40) Rows 6 – 7: ch 2, hdc around, sl st to join. (40) Row 8: ch 2, *hdc 3, dec*, 8 times, sl st to join. (32) Fasten off.

Hat Bow: Ch 29 in Pink yarn. Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc 26 across. (27) Row 2: ch 2, hdc 27 across. (27) Fasten off, but leave a long tail. Fold in half and sew ends together. Wrap tail around center several times and fasten off.

Bow Ends (make 2): Ch 9 in Pink yarn. Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc 6 across. (7) Fasten off and sew to bow. Attach the finished bow to the back of the hat.

Dress Straps (make 2): Ch 11 in Pink yarn. Fasten off, but leave a tail for sewing. Attach the arms to the body, and then sew the dress straps on.

Wand: Apply a small amount of glue at the end of a toothpick, and wrap red yarn at the end, followed by yellow yarn. Applying some more glue, wrap pink yarn around the rest of the toothpick, finishing the end with some yellow. Use Red color yarn and D/3 (3.25 MM) hook. Row 1: sc 4 into a magic ring. (4) Row 2: change to yellow yarn, *2 sc in next st, sc 1* repeat twice. (6) Row 3: sc around. (6) Fasten off, but leave a tail. Sew the back opening close. Attach to the toothpick with a dab of glue. Cut out 2 tiny wings from white felt, and attach to the side of the wand. Cut out 2 tiny circles from pink felt and attach to the center of wings.

Finishing: • Place the hat on her head. Glue or sew on two short Brown yarn strands to the top of her head, leaning them against the hat. • Using the Red 1/2” ribbon, make a bow and use the Red 1/8” ribbon to make the bow ends and attach to the center of her chest. • The wand can be attached with glue or left unattached. •

Make 4 tiny red bows and 2 tiny white bows from the 1/8 inch ribbons. Attach 2 red bows to her shoes, 2 red bows to her gloves, and the 2 white bows to her sleeves.

• Attach the 2 wings to her back with some glue.
